![]() There is no Layers panel available in Lightroom. Lightroom allows photographers to edit photos without going through the steep curve of learning Photoshop. Photoshop is a full-featured app more difficult to learn. Lightroom is a “younger brother” of Photoshop. When photographers come home from a shoot with a bunch of photos, Lightroom may help them to correct the photos the same way and apply quick non-destructive adjustments to many photos. Professional photographers use it in their workflow as a photo management system for efficiently cataloging, organizing and post processing thousands of photos. Batch editing photos is the most useful feature of Lightroom. It doesn’t have pixel level control like Photoshop, but that also make it far easier to learn. Such minor edits include color-balance, color corrections, brightness, contrast, exposure, temperature, lens flare, cropping, masking, healing brush, etc. Even the huge files from this camera don’t slow Photo Mechanic as it is working only with the embedded JPG.Adobe Lightroom is a photo editing software similar to Photoshop but for making minor edits of large collections of photos, and it’s also a photo organizer. BTW … I used the Canon 5Ds in Fiji a few weeks ago. Anyone who shoots a lot and needs to move through massive numbers of large RAW files needs to know this software. They all go the the recycle bin so I could see them once more if I wanted to anyway, so I usually just kill the detritus in one mass homicide. Then I sort by color class if I want to see rejects one more time, or if I am certain of the process just hit command-delete. I go through very quickly and assign the pink color to the ones I want to delete. Then I keep a finger on right hand on forward arrow key and a finger on left hand on the #1 key (only because that is the color key closest to the left side of the keyboard). “ I bring all the RAW images into Photo mechanic and go to full size thumbnails.
